RE: «Silhouette Cameo Controller» no aparece en el Nuevo Silhouette Cameo 2

Buen dia.

The following steps can be taken to explore this issue and have it resolved:

  • Ensure that the Silhouette is powered on. Power off the Silhouette and then back on as the Send to Silhouette screen is being viewed in order to confirm if the connection can be properly found when doing so.
  • Ensure that the USB cord is firmly plugged into the Silhouette on one end and then into the computer’s USB port on the other. Fully unplug the Silhouette’s USB cord from the computer and then reconnect it anew in order to confirm this connection. If this is initially unsuccessful, attempt to use an alternate USB port on the computer (i.e. if a port on the front of the computer was previously attempted, try using one on the back of the computer or visa-versa).
  • Ensure the original USB cord received with the Silhouette is in use. While other cords may appear to fit, Silhouette America cannot guarantee proper operation with other components.
  • Ensure there is a direct connection between the Silhouette and the computer tower/laptop (rather than running the USB cord through a hub or monitor/keyboard USB port, etc).
  • If all connections are secure and set up properly, then the most common concern may be that the Silhouette is not being recognized as a USB device by the computer. The following can be explored:
  1. Go to the Start menu > Devices and Printers
  2. Locate the device labeled «Unspecified» to check if the machine is registering as “USB Printing Support
  3. Right-click on the “Unknown/Unspecified Device
  4. Go to the Hardware tab
  5. Go to Properties
  6. As a new window pops up, in the General tab select the «Change Settings» option
  7. As another new window pops up, select the Driver tab
  8. Select «Update Driver«
  9. Choose to Update Driver Automatically
  • In some cases the computer may have another USB device driver set up that is impeding the ability of the Silhouette to properly connect. This is most commonly the case if there is one of the following :
    • Silhouette Driver present – A driver for the Silhouette is not actually necessary for proper operation to communicate with the Silhouette Studio program. If a Silhouette driver is present, please go to the Control Panel > Devices & Printers section and right-click on the Silhouette driver to select the Remove Device option.
    • Older printer driver present – If you have an older printer driver that is still installed, but the printer is no longer actually hooked up to the computer, the presence of the driver can be «hogging» the USB port communication. If an older printer driver is present (where the device is no longer present and connected and shows as being greyed out), go to the Control Panel > Devices & Printerssection and right-click on the driver in question to select Printer Properties. From here go to the Ports tab, locate the port type «File«, and check this box. Then click on Apply.
    • Duplicate printer driver present – If a duplicate printer driver is installed (where there are 2 or more of the same driver showing «Copy 1» or «Copy 2» for example), the presence of the duplicated driver can be «hogging» the USB port communication. If a duplicate printer driver is present, go to the Control Panel > Devices & Printers section and right-click on the duplicate driver in question to select the Remove Device option.
    • Active printer driver present, but printer not hooked up – Sometimes, another printer driver is installed but since it is not hooked up to the computer, the installed driver for the printer is taking up all available USB port channels that the Silhouette is trying to communicate with. This can be resolved by hooking up the regular printer via USB and powering it on. The Silhouette Studio® program can then be restarted and the Silhouette unit powered back on.
  • In some rare cases, a wireless connection (such as a WiFi internet connection for the computer) may cause concerns with proper communication for the Silhouette. If there is such a set with the computer’s internet connection, temporarily disable or turn off the wireless connection as a test, power the Silhouette off and then back on, and then re-visit the Send to Silhouette screen.
  • If the points above have been checked and have not resolved the concern, you may attempt to reset the connected detection for your computer by doing the following:
  1. Turn off the computer (do not re-start but rather power down the computer altogether)
  2. Turn off the Silhouette’s power
  3. Unplug the USB cord from both the Silhouette and the computer
  4. Turn the computer back on
  5. Navigate to the following location on the computer:
  • PC (Windows XP): C:>Documents and Settings>my_user_name>Application Data>com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio
  • PC (Windows Vista/7/8): C:>Users>my_user_name>AppData>Roaming>com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio
  • Mac: Macintosh HD>Users>my_user_name>Library>Preferences>com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio
  1. Delete the folder com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio
  2. Open the Silhouette Studio® software program
  3. Go to the File > Send to Silhouette menu option (this will pull up a panel showing in the lower right-hand corner that the Silhouette is not connected)
  4. Turn the Silhouette’s power on
  5. Plug the USB cord into the Silhouette ensuring that the connection is secure
  6. Plug the other end of the USB cord directly into one of the computer’s USB ports (though it should not matter which USB port is used, an alternate port than previously used may be attempted)
